Can I put a book on hold?

Answer

You can place a hold on books from our collection if they are already checked out to someone else.

  • Find the book in UC Library Search, the catalog for all UC libraries
  • If the local copy is checked out, you will see the option to Place Hold
  • Place Hold means that the library will recall the book
  • The library will hold the book for you at the second floor Services Desk and email you when the book is returned and ready to check out

Only items that have been recalled and items requested through Interlibrary Loan will be held for pick up at the Services Desk. Items listed as Available in UC Library Search must be retrieved from the shelf by the patron and checked out at the Services Desk.

Exception: The library will pull available items from the shelf and hold them for patrons with disabilities. Please contact the Services Desk at 209-228-4444.
