Best Practices
We recommend the following best practices for finding accessible library materials:
- We recommend linking to a Library resource directly from CatCourses, faculty websites and blogs, and campus websites. Please choose a persistent URL such as a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) or a PermaLink whenever possible.
- Links give users choices about which format they prefer to use for reading.
- Linking to Library subscription content also helps us keep accurate statistics on how many users are downloading an item.
- Many databases provide HTML full text or EPUB as accessible alternatives to PDFs (see below). Linking to the item or article from your site ensures students can choose the accessible option they need.
