How do I export citations from PubMed (Medline) into RefWorks?

Option 1: Using Bookmarklet

  • Conduct a search in PubMed to generate a results list.
  • Click "Save to RefWorks" bookmarklet. (Bookmarklet is something you add to your browser.)
  • Select desired citations on right window.
  • Click "Save to RefWorks" button.
  • Click "View in RefWorks".

Option 2: Using File Import

  • Conduct a search in PubMed to generate a results list.
  • Select the items of interest on the results list.  Check mark the items.
  • Select "Send to".
  • Select "Citations manager".
  • Click "Create File".
  • Save file in location you can easily locate.
  • Login to your RefWorks account with your username and password.
  • Select Plus + sign > Import References.
  • Under "Import from a file" either drop the file in the box or select from your computer.
  • On the pop-up window, select Import.
  • Click OK.
